Could you use Dental Implants

Are you tired of your partial dentures slipping or causing discomfort? Does the appearance of them make you self-conscious? If so, implant dentistry may be right for you. Once you have dental implants placed, your teeth will look and feel so natural that you won’t even have to think about them.

How do dental implants work?

Dental implants are titanium rods that are implanted into the underlying bone where your tooth used to be so that an artificial tooth can be attached to it. First, the bone must be exposed by making an incision into the gum. Next, holes are drilled into the bone, and rods are inserted into these holes to create an artificial tooth root. It may take up to six months for the bone to fuse with the rods and anchor them in place. During this period of healing, a temporary tooth can be placed on the rod. When your new roots are completely healed, we will place a permanent artificial tooth on the rod.

Do they have advantages over bridges or partial dentures?

Dental implants have several advantages over dentures. First, with bridges or partials, work is required on the teeth adjacent to the gap in order to hold the bridge in place. Secondly, implants are not removable and act like your natural teeth, so you can speak and chew normally. Third, implants look like natural teeth, so you can smile and show them off with confidence. Lastly, implants constantly stimulate the jaw bone, ensuring that you do not experience the same amount of bone loss as denture wearers.

Who can have implants placed?

Almost everyone is a good candidate for implants. If you have any problems with your teeth or gums, Dr. Moiceanu will need to correct them before placing your implants. You may have been told you do not have enough bone tissue to support implants, but Dr. Moiceanu can help with that, too. A procedure called bone grafting can help rebuild the bone tissue necessary for dental implants.

Does it hurt?

If you’re worried about pain, Dr. Moiceanu practices sedation dentistry, so there’s no need to feel any discomfort during the procedure. He will also prescribe pain medication for you to take during the healing process.
